Pretty cake from grocery store.
Come on Gabe, stop making such silly faces.
Aren't we a motley crew?
Right after Clare blew out the candles.
Clare let Ephrem help her open presents. (There's Dad's and big brother's knees and legs in the background.)
Clare got "cutting food" for her birthday. They loved it.
After a bike ride to the mall we went to Panera where we ate cinnamon rolls and muffins (not very substantial) for breakfast and afterwards they played in the play area for about an hour. We hadn't been there since last winter so it was fun to see how they had changed in their physical abilities of climbing, going through tunners, etc. After buying them both new shoes, as there was a Payless near by and after having their feet measured found out that their current shoes were two sizes too small, we headed home on a beautiful, if not somewhat windy, day as the kids dozed off in the trailer.
We got home late and had a light lunch of ham, cheese, and pop corn. Since Ephrem had gotten a little doze in the trailer on the way home he wasn't much up for a nap so they both played in the living room while I dozed off in my room for a bit.
Basically we had a simple party where my brother came over. Earlier I was feeling bad that we didn't have a bigger party and invited more people but my husband reminded me that she will just be happy getting the attention of having a special day and, of course, he was right. For dinner we had our regular home made pizza with a little bit of ham on top served with a few baby carrots thrown in so at least we could say we tried to get some vegetable in. I had bought a cake at the grocery store that morning after debating whether or not to make a cake so it was a very easy party and a lot of fun.
