So What's Been Happening? and Fiestware

Christmas is less than two weeks away and really I don't have that much to do.  I already ordered stuff for the kids but I need to buy something for Andy.  I also made our annual order from Mystic Monk Coffee that has become a Christmas tradition for us.  I would like to get something for my sister and maybe a few more things for the kids.  I bought a kids' table and chairs for Clare and Ephrem, and a Black Fire Jew's Harp for Gabe because this is what he requrested.  Maybe I'll try to pick up a few books for them or a few little toys?  I'm really trying to keep the spending under control this year though I'm sure we are still spending plenty.  I would like to try and make cookies during the day with the two little ones.  I would really like to plan more activities with them but since the time change I just have not been able to get motivated and up early enough to plan or think about anything. I think the darkness of winter is affecting me a little more this year as well but I think if I were more scheduled in my routine it would affect my mood positivitely too.  Taking time to write on my blog is a good start as I always feel like I've accomplished something when I post.

Hello, Fiestaware
One of the ways I've been wasting time on the computer up until last week was looking at and researching Fiestaware.  We really wanted new dishes and I thought about just buying a couple of cheap boxes from Walmart but then I know that Fiestaware is made in the US and is supposed to be very sturdy so I decided to go that route and was kind of obsessed with it for a while.  I stumbled upon a few Fiestaware groups on Flickr which have really beautiful pictures.  Here is a link.  I like looking at the different color combinations people use and how it looks with food on it, and on and on.  I took the advice of someone in a conversation thread and decided to pick three or four colors.  Dillard's had a buy 4 place settings get 1 free sale so now I have ten place settings of Fiestaware.  Three in Peacock( a color I was sure I wouldn't buy) three in Chocolate(my favorite) three in ivory(I like it with other colors but not on its own) and one in Paprika (perhaps I'll buy two more in this color when I see another good sale.)  It just arrived today.  At first I wasn't sure if I liked the colors I chose but then my dear son confirmed my choice of color saying that he thought it was good.  Andy liked them too I think and Clare loved the blue.  So I am happy that my family likes them and I will try not to fret to much.  Hopefully I will post pictures soon.  Now what I really need is a new table cloth.  The one we are using now is plastic with multi color hearts that I picked up on sale after Valentine's Day. A new table cloth for Christmas Eve dinner is a priority.

Perhaps in a future post I will tell you all about our new (to us) table that fits wonderfully in our small space.  I think this is what prompted me to look more diligently for dishes along with my sister giving my our grandparents' silver plate flatware.
