Right now... it is 10:43 PM on a Sunday night. Andy and Gabe are playing the new XBox game that Andy got for Father's Day. The temperature is pleasant after a rather warm day.
This weekend...Friday our new Wike arrived. A wike is a bike trailer that the two little kids will ride in. It is from a small company in Guelph, Ontario. I had spent two weeks obsessively looking into what kind of bike trailer to replace our $10 Instep that I got last year at a rummage sale. I wanted something that would be more comfortable for the kids to ride in and that was in general better made so we could take longer rides. I was looking mostly at the Burley Encore but found that Clare was already at the height limit for that. The only other choice was the Wike that allows for height up to 52 inches. This gives Clare a whole foot to grow so she will be in it for a while. The two kids fit in it very nicely and it does my heart good to see them look so much more comfortable than in the Instep (though we did have fun with that one too). The wheels are 20 inches as opposed to the 16 inches of the Instep which really helps it to cruise along.
Saturday we didn't really get much done but ride bikes. Andy and Gabe rode their bikes to to get their hair cut and then to my brother's place to run and errand for him as he has a little trouble getting around without a car and having his three boys with him. That morning I took the two little kids out for a ride in the Wike for the first time. I loved it and as I said before it was great to see them so comfortable as with the old trailer the really didn't have a lot of support and were very slumped.
Today Gabe made choclate chip pancakes for Father's Day with the chips he had bought when he rode his bike to the grocery store yesterday. Gabe had a Squire's meeting and had to serve at Latin Mass today so Andy and Gabe rode their bikes to church and I came later with the little kids in the van. After mass there were two plays done by the homeschool group. The first one about St. Bernadette and the second one about St. Clare with a pot luck following. After this I drove home with the kids and Gabe and Andy rode their bikes home. The kids were put to bed, we read our book about Padre Pio, said a rosary and Andy opened his Father's Day present which was a second XBox control and Lego Indiana Jones game. What can I say the man likes to play video games but rarely does so I thought it would be good to get him a special treat, something he really wanted. Gabe got a card for him but really personalized it in a very clever way. I completely forgot to have the little kids get their card ready so hopefully I will have them do something for Dad tomorrow. Better late than never.
This week...I better start thinking about what to do for Ephrem's birthday. His birthday is two weeks from today. O.K. I pretty much should not only think what I am going to do for his birthday I should decide and quickly about what we are going to do. Other things to do include Gabe and I riding our bikes (with the kids in tow) to my brothers house for a visit and getting this place in some kind of order,
If I have some time for myself I will lie down.
Some prayer intentions for the week... For my little girl or that I may be able to deal with her behavior in a productive way. She is being very trying these days. Her two favorite things to say are "I don't like it" and "I don't want to." Her bad behavior rubs off on her little brother.
Something that makes me smile...
Finally home after a long, hot bike ride today (Monday) to and from my brother's place. Big sister fell asleep and little brother looks a little squished.
